| Sample preparation | Weigh 3 g of the powdered sample and place it in 50 mL centrifuge tube then add 20 mL of ethanol 50%. Sonicate the mixture for 30 min. Centrifuge for 5 min. Transfer the supernatant and evaporate the solvent to dryness at reduced pressure. Dissolve the residue in 10 mL of water. Transfer the aqueous solution to a separator funnel. Extract 3 times each with 10 mL of hexane-ethyl acetate 1:1; v/v. combine the ethyl acetate extracts and evaporate to dryness at reduced pressure. Dissolve the residue in 1mL of ethanol |
